Candle wax old to new Candles

Sunday afternoon what a lovely way to spend ones time reusing and recycling left over bits of candle wax. Remove the old wicks and metal holders. Place the wax into a pouring metal pot. Fire up your stove top to a very low heat and watch the wax melt slowly. While that is happening get your candle jars ready by placing new wick and metal holder in each candle jar securing it with glue. If you have wick holders use them to hold the wick if not use two knives side by side to hold the wick. Once the wax is melting you can add essential oils if you have…

    Festive Gingerbread House & People

This post may be a tad late for the festive season yet we had to share some of our traditions! Every year we get together with our family & friends for our annual Gingerbread house competition! Game on for everyone from the youngest to the oldest. Loads of reshaping and cutting of the houses which are then ‘plastered’ together with icing. Covering them with copious amounts of sweets, chocolates and vegan marshmallows. Finishing them off with a sprinkle of snow! We send our festive wishes to everyone for a lovely festive 2021 season and may the New Year 2022 bring us all the support we need. Eloise & Sinead

    Butternut Soup

Warm spicy butternut soup for those rainy days…. I make this soup with my homemade bread on days when the sun is gone and the rain monkey has brought the clouds to play with. Each time I make the recipe there is a new flavour as each butternut is different coming from different parts of the world. This year Sinead and I planted our own butternut plants – they are currently in the garden with beautiful butternuts waiting for a few more sunny days and then we can harvest them. We are looking forward to tasting our homegrown butternuts. Ingredients 1tbs olive oil 1 x onion 1tsp kosher fine salt…

Baking up a puff of meringues…

What is not to love… meringues and ice cream, meringues and chocolate sauce, eton mess, meringues and berries…. or just plain meringues or flavoured meringues. We love meringues and as dairy free vegetarians, almost vegans, we make our meringues with the juice of our tin chick peas – aquafaba is the viscous water in which legume seeds such as chick peas have been cooked in. They are pretty easy to make with the family as you can lick the spoon 🙂 Scrumptious vegan Meringues: Peppermint meringues Cacao nibs and peppermint meringues Vanilla meringues Dried strawberries and vanilla meringues Lemon meringues How to make these beauties: Ingredients: 400g tin of drained…
